"The Disaster of 98: Guerra Hispano-Americana" is a card-driven game based on the Spanish-American War.
　In this card-driven game, two players fight for control of Cuba and the Philippines: one takes on the Cuban and Filipino rebels seeking independence from Spain and the U.S. forces supporting them, and the other takes on the Spanish army.
　Before the game begins, the "Cuban War of Independence" and the "Cavite Rebellion" leading up to the Spanish-American War take place, and the starting situation changes each time the game is played.
　Various events that occurred during the Spanish-American War are recreated in card events. The historical background of all events is explained in the rulebook, allowing players to learn what factors influenced the Spanish-American War throughout the game.
　The rulebook is also written in English & Japanese and English cards are included.
